Discovery Garden Mural Project

All Guiteras students worked to create mosaic murals that will be installed in the Guiteras Discovery Garden.  The murals will be attached to columns at the entrance of the garden.  The mural designs were based on the students’ observational drawings of the plants and animals in and around the Discovery Garden. Local mosaic artist, Maria Furtado, worked with the entire school to produce the colorful murals.  The students enjoyed working in the mosaic medium, and loved seeing their drawings enhanced by the beautiful tiles. They also learned a great deal about working together throughout this creative, collaborative process.  This project was made possible through a grant from The Rhode Island State Council on the Arts.
